Finding Peace

One of the beautiful things about preparing for my sermon series on contentment is that is has brought me peace.  As I read and research on what to say each Sunday, I am absorbing the wisdom of those who have mastered contentment.  It is easy to grasp in the moment but harder to maintain in the stress of the day.  Yesterday I had a couple of moments where I just had to pause and bow my head.

In my sermon last Sunday, I reminded my people that in order to be happy that you have to work at it.  You can’t be good at anything unless you work at it.  Being happy is a decision that you have to make every day just like living as a Christian is something you have to decide every single day.  Our attitude determines our ability to find peace, contentment and happiness. Finding time to prioritize our spiritual health is a necessity.  Many people will work on their physical bodies and completely ignore their spiritual self.  You need the wisdom of the scriptures and the poetry of the psalms.  You need to be connected to the words of inspiration and strength that can guide your day.

Start small. Set aside 5 minutes a day to be still and at peace. Work your way up to 10 minutes and then to 30.  Breathe deeply and find a place that doesn’t distract you.  Your soul will thank you.Facebooktwitterby feather
