Who We Are

Looking for the personal details? Check out our pastor and her vision for Living Water. Plus, note the people helping her get there…

What We Do

We are messy people doing holy work. Find ways to join us in a small group, volunteer or gather with us for worship…

Meet the Pastor

I am Rev. Heather Scherer and this is my first church as the lead pastor. I have to admit to being excited and terrified on any given day at the prospect of creating something completely new. I have loved working in student ministry for most of my career and found youth ministry very fulfilling. I went to Southern Methodist University on a basketball scholarship. I was an All American and All State athlete. I grew up surrounded by generations of my family all attending First UMC Okmulgee and then eating lunch together at grandma’s house. I have a passion for missions and hospitality. I have been blessed with a very patient husband, Jon, and three beautiful children.

Our Vision

Our vision for Living Water UMC is a community of acceptance and love. Jesus’ willingness to be with all people and his radical commandments to love God and neighbor guide us in our ministry. We recognize that all people are beautiful creations by God and that we all have value.  We strive to be a place of courageous conversation, meaningful worship and faith formation. Our church is not a building but a people with hearts for transforming lives and “being” the church. We are messy people doing holy work.

What We Believe

We believe thaat our creator has always and will always desire to be in relationship with us. We believe God has demonstrated in radical ways a faithfulness to us that is undeserved and life transforming. We celebrate the example that Jesus gives us to live a life of meaning and purpose with a challenge to offer hope to others. We believe the Bible holds the truths of God and that we continue to discover God in every day. We recognize that our ability to know God is limited but our hearts can overflow with the joy that comes from constantly striving to know more.

Small Groups: Small groups are gatherings of people to share, grow and connect with others who are seeking a life with purpose and passion. We encourage you to come check us out. Right now we are meeting on Zoom every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.  Email Pastor Heather to join us from your home and she will email you the connection link.  hscherer@faithtulsa.org

Messy People Doing Holy Things: We have done so many things!  We have moped out flooded businesses as worship on a Sunday morning after the floods.  In the spring, we spent 4 Wednesday evenings working on homes and yards for seniors in Glenpool. We packed back-to-school baskets for the school work days for our local teachers.  We gathered supplies and pack “Blessing Bags” for the homeless that we carry in our cars to be given out. We provided and wrapped all the Christmas gifts for the Senior Citizen Center this year.  For Christmas Eve this year, instead of blankets, we will be collecting packages of new socks and underwear to be given to those in need.  Send Pastor Heather an email if you would like to do life transforming outreach with us! hscherer@faithtulsa.org

Spiritual Growth happens through our Worship services (Sunday@10 am and Wednesday night classes (6:30 pm).  During this difficult time of self-distancing, we are only meeting online. We invite you to gather with us electronically on both Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
