Slowing Down While Speeding Up

After a conversation with a church planter who is also a coach, she gave me the recommendation to slow down. She helped me to realize that when people get excited about something, they want it right now and waiting can be difficult. When I am inviting people to something that isn’t happening, it can be difficult to get other people to want to be part of it. Once a month is a frequeny that makes maintaining enthusiasm next to impossible. So I have been working on articulating the needs of the new church for others to invest in and the details of getting information out to people. I have created a wish list of support that we need from other churches and individuals. Now that I have all this information ironed out, I can order the business cards and build the web site to communicate this information. I have finally found a place to rent that will let us have worship on Christmas Eve. You see, I found out that no one wants to work on Christmas Eve so they don’t want to rent their space to someone else and have to show up. I finally went to someone I knew personally, who trusted me and was supportive of how important having church is on Christmas Eve. It reminded me of the college mantra that it is who you know that matters as much as what you know. So I was doubly blessed by knowing these people and by them knowing God. Sometimes who you know is the best way to get something accomplished! Facebooktwitterby feather
